This basic hydrogen safety training course teaches the fundamental understanding and awareness required to be safe around hydrogen. H2 Aware introduces the hazards, risk management philosophy, and essential good practices to reduce hydrogen fire risk.

Audience

This course is designed for all personnel who work with or around hydrogen or hydrogen mixtures. It provides an introduction or refresher appropriate for both non-technical and technical personnel.

Learning Goals

Students will receive a basic introduction to hydrogen and the hydrogen fire hazard, need-to-know insights and safety information on material selection and leak prevention, along with good practices essential for safe handling and operations. This course is shorter and more general in content than our Level 2: H2 Practice course, but still highlights important concepts on the unique properties of hydrogen, combustion hazards, materials compatibility, and ignition sources. Quizzes are provided to review the main points in each section.

Student Outcomes

After completing this basic hydrogen safety training course, students will be equipped with the basic understanding necessary to implement a simple risk management strategy and apply good practices that safely defend against the hazards of hydrogen.

Formats

  • The interactive eLearning version of this course allows for 1.5 hours of self-paced online learning.
  • The onsite classroom version of this course is two-hours in length and can be custom-tailored to meet a client’s specific needs, featuring unique systems and factors found on-site.
  • The live webinar version of this course provides a two-hour virtual training experience that can be custom-tailored to a client’s specific systems and needs. Students can participate individually on their own devices or together in one room.

Cost

The cost for level 1 training is typically $50-$250 per person, depending on format, number of courses, number of personnel to be trained, and any custom add-ons.
