H2 Level 2

H2 Practice

Level 2: Hydrogen Safety Intermediate Knowledge

This course covers the basic knowledge presented in Level 1: H2 Aware and adds a deeper understanding of the properties of hydrogenmaterials compatibilityfactors contributing to ignition, and extensive good practices related to operating or maintaining hydrogen systems.

Audience.

This course is intended for personnel who directly handle hydrogen or work around hydrogen systems, including individuals involved in the use, specification, procurement, assembly, operation, maintenance, instrumentation, safety, management or incident investigation of systems, components, and fires or explosions involving liquid or gaseous hydrogen or hydrogen gas mixtures.

Learning Goals.

Students will learn about hydrogen fire and explosion safety through practical industry examples of real incidents related to hydrogen. They will learn industry best practices and how to incorporate them into daily hydrogen system handlingoperations, and maintenance. Level 2: H2 Practice includes all of the content from Level 1: H2 Aware, adding additional knowledge of the “why behind the what” related to material compatibilityignition mechanisms, and safe practices to minimize the risk of a hydrogen incident.

Student Outcomes.

After completing this course, students will understand the hazards of hydrogen use and the importance of material compatibility. Students will be able to identify common ignition mechanisms, and apply industry best practices related to hydrogen handlinginspectionoperationsmaintenance, and fire response.

Formats.

  • The onsite classroom version of this course offers content that is custom-tailored to a company’s specific hydrogen systems and training needs. Onsite courses can range from a half-day to a full-day of training, depending on specific modules and content.
  • The live webinar version of this course provides a half-day virtual training experience that can be custom-tailored to a client’s specific systems and needs. Students can participate individually on their own devices or together in one room.

Cost.

Cost for level 2 training is typically $245-$600 per person. Final cost depends on several factors such as format, number of courses, number of personnel to be trained, and any custom add-ons.
