N2O Aware
Level 1: Introductory Awareness
WHA’s N2O Aware course introduces “oxidizer” hazards using oxygen as a baseline, discusses the properties and hazards associated with nitrous oxide, including some incident case studies, and presents a risk management approach with best practices to mitigate the hazards associated with nitrous oxide.
Audience
This course is designed for all personnel who work with or around nitrous oxide (N2O) systems, including individuals involved in the use, specification, procurement, assembly, operation, maintenance, instrumentation, and safety involving liquid or gaseous nitrous oxide systems.
Learning Goals
The learning goal of this course is to introduce nitrous oxide properties and hazards and increase awareness of best practices for hazards mitigation.
Student Objectives
- To help develop a “knowledgeable (or qualified) nitrous oxide technician” as defined by CGA G-8.3 and EIGA Doc 176
- To increase awareness of nitrous oxide hazards as compared to oxygen and knowledge of some key best practices for nitrous oxide
